School Clubs and Activities - My name is Emma Perkins. I was the president of Student Council for two years, and I really enjoyed that time interacting with other students. Favorite Class - I have always been good at math, but I never really appreciated it until I was taking Calculus II from the community college. Before I took high level math courses, I never saw the point of math. Favorite Teacher - My favorite teacher from high school is Dr. Parks. She is always super supportive! Future Plans - I am planning on going to the University of Kansas next semester. I will be studying Chemical Engineering. I want to eventually have a job that helps the environment and allows me to work outside. Over this next summer I am hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail. Advice for Future Students - I encourage future students to take additional advanced classes outside of the online school. Going to Maize has allowed me to take nearly all of my classes though the community college. High school isn't about learning information, it is about learning how to learn.

Favorite Class: My favorite class was welding technology at the Newton area votech. I learned many new skills in that class. Favorite Teacher: My favorite teacher was Mrs. Widrig. She was always willing to help with anything and answer any questions anyone had. Thank You: I want to thank my family friends and teachers - all of them have helped me through high school. Future Plans: I do plan to get a job in this coming summer and go to college the following school year. Advice for Future Students: My advice to others is work hard and take a class you enjoy. School doesn't just have to be about school you can have some fun with it to. Looking to the Future - I plan to go into Holistic Care and eventually open my own business of natural hair care products. Favorite Subject and Teacher - My favorite class was my Comp 101 class with Mr. McDaniel. Thank you for taking a new approach and letting your students be more creative and self-motivated. You have always been helpful and understanding as my advisor. Thank You - A big thank you to my mom for giving me the opportunity to do online school and to my fiance, Brian, for helping to keep me motivated to graduate. |
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Student Spotlight is a chance for students to share their thoughts, talents and experiences. There will be a monthly topic posted where students can share their opinions and views about the topic in question. There may also be months where a light is shown on a student that has a particular interest or talent, so we can learn more about our MVPS classmates. Archives
