Activities and Achievements - I've done a lot of different things throughout the years, but high school was all about theater for me. I was involved in ten different theatrical productions both inside of and outside of school programs. I acted in plays and musicals, and am currently operating the light board for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, at Gardner Edgerton Theater, and Violet, at the Olathe Civic Theater Association. I'd have to say that it's very difficult to pin down any one favorite memory from four of the most formative years of my life, as it feels as though each and every thing I've done has contributed in a meaningful way to who I am today. There are some moments that stick out, though. The first show I was cast in at the high school, Fiddler on the Roof, which was also the first show I was ever a part of, was very exciting. All the friends I made in and out of school over the past four years hold a very dear place in my heart. Favorite Teachers and Subjects - My favorite teachers have all been people who went above and beyond the call of education, to help me as an individual, and to really try to reach me. Jami Widrig and Michelle Parks really helped me grow as a person and learn things beyond the subject they were teaching. That said, my favorite subject will always be theater. Whether on stage, or building it, I love being a part of a performance. I find it truly fulfilling in a way that nothing else has been for me, and possibly never will. Thank You - I want to thank all of my friends, for being there for me, and letting me be there for them. My parents, of course, have been there every step of the way, always striving for my success and my dreams. I couldn't do this without any of them. Advice for Future MVPS HS Students - Advice I'd give to future students would be to always do your best work. Always try to get along with someone before you try to get 'even' with them, and communicate everything all the time with everyone. I cannot stress that enough, communicate anything you need or any problems you have. Not just in school, but everywhere. It comes in handy. Looking To the Future - I plan to attend the University of Kansas and hope to take the theater courses there to advance my understanding of the arts, and then venture out into the world of professional theater! Quote that Inspired Me - "You have to stay in school. You have to. You have to go to college. You have to get your degree. Because that's the one thing people can't take away from you is your education. And it is worth the investment." -Michelle Obama |
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Student Spotlight is a chance for students to share their thoughts, talents and experiences. There will be a monthly topic posted where students can share their opinions and views about the topic in question. There may also be months where a light is shown on a student that has a particular interest or talent, so we can learn more about our MVPS classmates. Archives
